The volume addresses with critical analysis and attention to sources, Adolf Hitler’s musical passion for Richard Wagner, his closeness to the family of the famous composer and the cultural and social anxieties that went through the years of the ruling Nazi ideology. Thus the persecution of “degenerate music” and its authors, the ferocious Hitlerian cultural anti-Semitism, and above all the revision of the effective importance that Wagner’s music had on the strengthening of Nazi ideology are probed. The author clearly sets out the lucid examination carried out personally on the history of previous studies, with his particular gaze as a composer and musician.
