Stefano Mainetti

Stefano Mainetti, born in Rome, Italy, August 8th 1957. After studying classical guitar attended Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Rome where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude in Composition. He studied Conducting with Cesare Croci and Ennio Nicotra and holds a BA, magna cum laude, in Politic Science with a published dissertation on Richard Wagner.

He attended several classic guitar competitions and was twice awarded Second Place at the internationally recognized Recanati Music Competition in Italy in 1971 and 1972.

Stefano is one of two composers who scored the Sony Classical CD ABBA' PATER.

Represented by DIBERTI & C., in 1995 he composed the soundtrack of the feature film THE SHOOTER, a Miramax Film by Ted Kotcheff (First Blood). In 1996, he scored the feature film SILENT TRIGGER starring Dolph Lundgren by Russel Mulcahy (Highlander) and in 1997 the movie SUB DOWN starring Stephen Baldwin.

In all, Stefano has composed the musical scores for 30 feature films, 30 television series, 66 documentary films, 30 stage productions, 4 symphonic project as well as 32 CDs, the European television series Eurocopa and the Italian television series ORGOGLIO (Pride) receiving the RAVELLO CINEMUSIC PRIZE for Best Italian Fiction Music at the RAVELLO FESTIVAL 2005. 

In 2007 and 2008 he was a member of the jury at the FESTIVAL DI SANREMO.

ANICA Award at the SALERNO FESTIVAL in 2006 for the soundtrack of the TV movie A VOCE ALTA and the SALVO RANDONE PRIZE for his career in Mazara del Vallo in 2007.

Between 2007 and 2009 he composed and conducted the music for THE WORD OF PROMISE, a huge American audio drama of the Bible in 79 cds featuring the voices of 5 ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS: Richard Dreyfuss, John Voight, Louis Gossett Jr, Marisa Tomei, Marcia Gay Harden, plus the voices of over 600 actors including: Stacy Keach, Terence Stamp, Max Von Sydow, Malcolm McDowell, Michael York e Jim Caviezel.

He is one of the composers of ALMA MATER, a cd produced in 2009 by the Vatican and "Geffen Records", performed by the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and the Vatican Choir. This cd was nominated as ALBUM OF THE YEAR at the CLASSIC BRIT AWARDS. An historic CONCERT AT WESTMINSTER CATHEDRAL  was held in LONDON 2010, featuring the very first world live performance conducted by the composers.

In 2011 he composed and produced TU ES CHRISTUS a Sony Music cd for the beatification of Pope Wojtyla featuring Andrea Bocelli and Placido Domingo.

In 2014 wrote a book on the political ideology of Richard Wagner published by Musa Comunicazione for the Sorgente Group Foundation.
