On March 27, 2026, Stefano Mainetti participated in the third edition of the Portofino Days – International Fiction Festival, an international event dedicated to the audiovisual industry, held from March 27 to 29, 2026. The festival brought together professionals from the film, television, and music production industries to explore the ongoing transformations shaping the creative sector. As part of the festival’s official program, Mainetti took part in the panel discussion “Film Scores and the Rise of Generative AI”, held at Villa Durazzo in Santa Margherita Ligure.

Moderated by Roberto Lo Crasto, the panel featured Stefano Mainetti, Marco Testoni, Pietro Giola, Founder & CEO of Machiavelli Music, and Papa DJ, who came together to discuss one of the most pressing and widely debated issues in today’s music and audiovisual industries: the impact of generative artificial intelligence on the composition, production, and use of music for visual media.

The discussion focused on the opportunities offered by emerging technologies, as well as the artistic, professional, and ethical questions arising from their growing adoption. Topics included the evolution of film scoring as an artistic language, the transformation of production models, new forms of collaboration between human creativity and generative systems, and the challenges surrounding music rights management, the protection of composers’ intellectual property, and the economic sustainability of the creative industry as a whole.

Within this context, Stefano Mainetti contributed his perspective as a composer, orchestrator, and explorer of digital technologies applied to music, placing artificial intelligence within a broader reflection on the relationship between technological innovation and artistic expression. This relationship extends beyond the tools and methods of music production to encompass the composer’s role, the value of individual artistic identity, and the future of music for film and television.

The panel provided an opportunity for dialogue among professionals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, bringing together artistic research, the needs of the audiovisual industry, and the new possibilities introduced by artificial intelligence. In a rapidly evolving technological landscape, the discussion highlighted the growing importance of examining the meaning and value of human creativity.
